Young Beginnings-Youthful Dreams

Art and PE. Those were my favorite subjects in high school... oh and my boyfriend. I started my pottery “career” in my 60’s, one high school semester seemed to be all it took to imprint into my brain the love of ceramics.

40 some-odd years, 2 kids and a few jobs later I rediscovered how much I love pottery.

After a layoff I turned my hobby into a “job” I am a full-time potter with my little studio set up at my house in Yorba Linda. I’ve confiscated half of the garage and left the other half for my husband - that guy who was my boyfriend in high school... yeah, that guy. His half of the garage is used mostly to make stuff for me and my pottery shows.

I created my studio name by combining my married name – Cruz - with my maiden name – Arter – and viola - CruzinArt

I hope you love my stuff as much as I love making it. There’s just something so therapeutic about getting my hands into a blob of mud and making something useful out of it - Julie Cruz
